Quick Tips To Help You Cut Down On Drinking

Quitting drinking is the best remedy for all these problems. The following are tips to help you quit drinking and take back control over your life.

i) Set Goals

To minimize your chances of developing alcohol-related problems, consider setting aside days in the week to drink and decide how much you are going to drink on those days. If you normally drink on a daily basis, you can set a goal to alternate drinking days and non-drinking days. For instance, if you would like to drink on Mondays after work, you can rest on Tuesdays, drink on Wednesdays and so on. Additionally, you can decide to reduce your alcohol intake on weekdays to improve your productivity at work.

ii) Develop a Healthy Eating Habit

Drinking with an empty stomach is dangerous and may actually lead to severe alcohol intoxication. It is crucial you develop a habit of eating a healthy meal before drinking.

iii) Avoid Triggers

Some people often turn to alcohol when stressed, disappointed or invited for free drinks. These triggers should be avoided. Drinking should be a conscious decision and not impulse-driven. Avoiding triggers will help to contain your drinking problem.

iv) Learn to Say No

If you know you're not supposed to drink on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays, you should not accept any free drink, even if you're attending a wedding, birthday party or corporate event. During your drinking days, you should learn to say no once you reach your limit.

v) Find a Hobby

Many people do not have a hobby and this is what has contributed to their drinking problem. If you have nothing better to do, you will most likely find time to spend with your drinking buddies at the pub. Consider taking up a sport, such as biking or swimming, and do something worthwhile, like renewing friendships and mending broken relationships.
